Barban is a small historical village where ancient Romans used to live in a prehistoric hillfort. Throughout history Barban had a strategic position dominating the high ground and controlling the valley and the bridge on the Raša river. Today Barban is well known for its knightly game Trka na prstenac (the race for the ring), the feast of wine, and the fig festival. The Visitors center is located in the center of Barban and presents the unique cultural-historical heritage in an interactive way, through education and visual presentation with the main theme „Trka na prstenac“- Race of the Ring. This race represents the symbol of the town and it’s one of the top tourist attractions in Istria.
